Following the previous volume A Confluence of Distilled Essences published in 2008, Water and Earth Trans-formations continues to examine Chameli Ramachandran's body of works from 2009 to 2011 in which she portrays her impressions of the natural world.
While drawing from her remarkable past, Ranesh Ray eloquently articulates Chameli's journey of transforming perceptions and perspectives from 2009 resulting in her present creations in Chinese ink and watercolour on paper. These remain Chameli's mediums of expression. But her areas of focus have dramatically changed. The drop of water on a lotus leaf symbolises the much larger perspective. With deft brushstrokes she lyrically captures expanses of the transforming waters of the sea and the undulating forms of the hills.
